What are some good frugal meals for 10 people?

Essentially I would like to know some very cheap menu for 10 people (three meals a day for a week). Please offer me some of your insight on how to pull it off. Thank you in advance. :-)

  4. I have just been through this over christmas but with 15 staying and eating, and we are on a pension so here goes - Breakfast, buy the most popular cereals, like wheat bix, cornflakes and sultana bran, that covers all ages, stockpile bread in your freezer for those who just like toast and a cuppa, salad and or cold meats for lunch with rolls or bread, and for dinners, make pasta, pasta and more pasta, home brand cause its cheap and just as good, spaghetti bog one night, sausage sizzle the next lasagne and salad with garlic bread spreads a meal out and also macaroni cheese, just add loads of different veges like i do, brocolli, caulie, peas, corn, carrots, onions and bacon add the macaroni boil it altogether then make the sauce, also making quiches is quick and easy especially if you make a few at a time put veges in them, you can also add bacon, ham or chicken to it, its actually cheaper if you make about 6 or 7 at a time only works out to be about $20 for them all, also making pizzas from pocket bread is also another cheap meal you get 6 large bases for 99 cents and can add what ever the family likes, hell, get them to help and make their own, they'll love being involved especially if their are kids, I hope all goes well for you. Goodluck!!!

  5. I'm a college kid... I understand your problem.

I really like to do Ramen-based cooking, and pork is probably one of the best flavors. I would cook up about 6 packages (usually they come about 6 for $1 anyway) and let most of the water boil out so that more flavor is in the noodles and not the broth you'll end up getting rid of. from there, "pasta" and "asian" dishes are endless. for instance, add some chicken on top (baked with a good seasoning or fried with a little olive oil are my favorite ways to prepare it) for a "plate" meal, or don't boil out the water and throw in a bag of mixed veggies and cubed, cooked chicken and don't let the broth drain out for an easy "unique" chicken noodle soup. or top the "boiled out" pasta with baby shrimp and steamed veggies.

some pancake mix, a frying pan, and some toppings (syrup and butter are good, but so is jam, whipped cream, chocolate chips, and even pudding jell-o pudding) make great breakfasts. a waffle maker works too.

baked potato bars are pretty easy to set up. 10 baked potatos, plus sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, chives, pork and beans, etc and let people do their own thing.

another pork and beans recipe involves a bag of tortilla chips, some pork and beans, shredded cheese, and sour cream (usually in that order).

big bags of cold cereal are always easy alternatives!!

water, ice, milk, juice, and frozen berries make good smoothies.

ham and cheese omlets on large griddles are fairly easy.

deli meat and cheese make easy sandwiches in large quantites. get a couple different kinds of lunch meat if you can.

salads will make your meals seem more full. a head, or two in your case, of lettice, three or four cubed tomatos, and a sliced red onion (so you have the rings) make a really easy green salad. 2 large containers of cottage cheese, 2 boxes of jell-o, and 4 single serving containers of yogurt will make a really easy cottage cheese salad (match the yogurt flavor to the jell-o flavor; consider doing two different salads with two different flavors).

a large pot of bow tie or elbow pasta and 3 or 4 cans of stewed tomatos (or tomato soup made with water) makes a great meal. a variation is rice with tomato soup.

and, of course, a few bags of McDonalds is always an option!

hope this helps. sorry it's a bit unorganized. good luck!!

  6. Hello:

Here is what I would offer 10 people for breakfast, lunch and dinner:

    Breakfast: French Toast,Pancakes,Waffles,Sausage,Bacon,Cereal,Blueberry or Banana Muffins,Fresh Fruit,Yogurt,Oatmeal,Orange Juice,Milk,Water,Coffee,Tea.

    Lunch:Sandwiches,Soups,salads,cheeseburgers,hot dogs,baked beans,grilled cheese sandwiches,BLT sandwiches,etc...

Dinner: Chicken,Fish,Pot Roast,Chili,Beef Stew,Sloppy Joes,Spaghetti,Casseroles, salads, desserts, vegetables that are either raw or steamed to go with dinner,Lasagna,Pizza,etc...

Believe it or not, casseroles, hot dogs, hamburgers, chili, sloppy Joes, spaghetti are excellent things to serve your guests because not only are they very affordable, but they are very filling too! One thing I do when I have guests staying with me for a week or more is AHEAD OF TIME,I make sure that I talk to everyone that will be staying at my house to make sure that they don't have any food allergies that I should be aware of ahead of time. Once I have been told by my guests that they are allergy free, then we all work on a menu that will suit everybody's different tastes and likes.

We happen to do what I call a buffet style everyday where the guests in my home get to decide what foods that they would like to have for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I give them like three or four choices of what we could have, and then they let me know what they would like to eat! This way,I am not stuck in the kitchen all day,and I get to spend more time with my guests. Another thing is that any leftovers that you have from the night before could be made into soup, meatloaf, casseroles,or a pot pie,for the next day's meal. I hope that this has been helpful and good luck!! ;-)

  7. A big pot of homemade soup goes a long way...make some cornbread to serve with it.

or how about grilling burgers outdoors?
